"Voz Latinoamericana" (Latin American Voice), on air since November 2005, can be heard on 783 AM Access Radio ( www.accessradio.org.nz )
Monday evenings from 5 to 6 pm.
Our audiences are Spanish Speakers first and second language in the New Zealand community in Wellington as well as our connections in Auckland. We belong to the Spanish Speaking community in NZ.
We host a variety of guests from all over America, The Caribean and those resident locally, as well as maori & pakihas interested in Latin American Culture and it's peoples struggles for liberation.
Our programming includes commentaries about; peoples struggles, music of all sources from our heritage including afrocaribean, afrocolombian, afrobrazilian, afroperubian and all folklore in the continent, as well as tango, boleros, rock, jazz, etc.
Poetry is very important in our program. There is a rich tradition of great poets all along our continent as well as from Spain.
History is being made at present with Indigenous peoples voices being heard from all corners of Latin America to worldwide attention. Its power resonates from ancient times to its current presence where their influence
revitalizes all of us. Everything they have to say becomes an open book from our histories, giving lessons for our growth.
It is our responsibility to provide invaluable information. We would like to inspire our community to be part of Voz Latinoamericana.
